the childWe start with where the child is, not where we assume they should be.
Hi, I’m Qi Qi, but most of my students call me Mrs Aw.
I started tutoring at 17, and over the years I have taught at a private international college, written curriculum and trained teachers at an enrichment centre, and worked with students across Primary and Secondary levels.
My classes are built on one simple belief: students do better when they know exactly what to do.
That is why, over the years, I have found myself constantly creating frameworks for the parts of English that students struggle to ‘see’ clearly, from oral responses and situational writing to comprehension, composition and essay writing.
These frameworks are not shortcuts. They are tools that help students think clearly, write purposefully, and respond with confidence under exam conditions.
What a lesson with Mrs Aw looks like
At the heart of my teaching is what I call HEART Education.
We start with where the child is, not where we assume they should be.
Clear, practical frameworks for every skill that feels confusing.
Grammar and vocabulary taught as building blocks, not drills.
In-the-moment feedback so students know how to improve, now.
Every lesson connects to the bigger PSLE or Secondary journey.
Every class follows a clear rhythm, because structure helps students feel safe enough to learn, try, and improve.
By the end of a lesson, a child has taken one clearer step towards owning the skill.
